Mr. Henry B. Cooley is a native of Shelbyville TN., attended Scotts Methodist Church and Bedford County Training School. He played football and basketball, and served as captain for both sports. Henry played football under the direction of Will P. Martin, and graduated with the American Legion School Award.
Henry attended Tennessee A&I State University where he played football under Howard Gentry Sr. While at A&I he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served 2 years. After serving in the Army he returned to college in New Orleans, LA., at Dillard University where he played football on the Gulf coast Championship team. Then he was called back to duty during the Cuban Crisis.
Henry joined St. Williams Catholic Church, taught Sunday school, and was the head of the hospitality committee. Henry worked at AEDC for 30 years. After retiring from AEDC, he worked for Dr. Timmy Clark and H.B. Cowan Insurances.
Henry is also known around town for the sign he had on the back of his truck, BCTS Fighting Tigers National record-82-0-4. 1943-1950. Henry is a lover of God, his family, friends, and sports.
